Product Description

PT-141 (Bremelanotide) — Description PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, is a synthetic peptide that acts on the melanocortin receptors in the brain. Unlike drugs that work through blood flow, PT-141 works centrally (in the brain) to influence sexual desire. What it’s used for Treatment of hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women Studied and sometimes used off-label for sexual desire and arousal issues in men How it works Activates MC3 and MC4 melanocortin receptors Modulates brain pathways involved in sexual motivation and arousal Does not rely on nitric oxide or vascular dilation (unlike Viagra-type drugs) Administration Subcutaneous injection (under the skin) Typically taken on demand, not daily Effects may begin within 30–60 minute Common effects Increased sexual desire Enhanced arousal response Common side effects Nausea (most common) Flushing Headache Increased blood pressure (temporary) Darkening of gums or skin with repeated use (rare) Key notes Approved by the FDA (under the brand name Vyleesi) for women with HSDD Not a hormone Not an aphrodisiac—it enhances desire only when sexual interest pathways are responsive
